Stomach Flu Remedies

Almost any disease that is common has home remedies that seem to be trusted by a lot of people. There are sore throat remedies, treatments for the flu, and even so-called cures for the common cold. All of these remedies work to varying degrees. For the most part, they do not cure the condition, but they often make it a lot more bearable. Basically, home herbal remedies are there to make you feel more comfortable while your body has time to heal.

Stomach flu remedies, however, are a little bit problematic. It is not that there is no such thing as a stomach flu remedy that works, it is just that you will have a heck of a time keeping it down. If you have ever had stomach flu, you know what I mean. Stomach flu remedies depend on swallowing something, and swallowing is almost impossible when you have a bad stomach flu. Anything that goes down is up in seconds.

Nonetheless, there are a few stomach flu remedies that are worth trying. Of all of them, my favorite stomach flu remedy is herbal tea. There are several kinds of stomach teas that are very good for you. Peppermint is very soothing on the stomach, as is ginger.

If you're using a ginger tea, however, you should only use a little bit. Once you have a stomach flu, almost anything can irritate your tummy. Stomach flu remedies that irritate the stomach lining will be no good. They will be out before you can even finish them!

Basically, there is only a little bit that you can do when you have a stomach flu. Most stomach flu remedies are really a matter of survival. You have to find a way of keeping hydrated, no matter how hard it may be.

This means you have to drink a lot of water, sip clear broth if you can, and have some tea from time to time. Anything to keep liquid inside of your body will help. The only good thing about the stomach flu is that it does not last for very long. There are stomach flu remedies out there that claim to cure the stomach flu, but by the time you can take them, the flu will already be mostly gone.

A stomach flu will generally start to subside after 12 hours at the most, at which point you can try using some stomach flu remedies to make you more comfortable. Up to that point, however, there is very little that you can do.
