Period Symptoms
Learning Your Period
Symptoms
You have to learn your own period symptoms, and that can
take a while. When I was younger, I never knew when my new
menstrual cycle would begin. A new fertility cycle starts on
the first day of steady flow that you would call your
period.
For a while I did know, as it would be every four weeks on
the dot, but because I have a medical condition related to my
reproductive system, that changed for me. My cycles began to
vary in length, and that meant that I had to learn my period
symptoms so that I was not caught unaware when away from home
without any protection with me.
What is hard about learning your own personal
period
symptoms is that they are not the same
for all women, despite what you may learn at school in
your health or sex education classes. Though some of the
basics are the same, they intensity and timing are
different for all. If you are not paying any attention,
things will sneak up on you. You can never count on your
period coming at the same time each month, so the
symptoms of your period are essential knowledge.
Most women find that they have periods of being weepy each
month. Take the time to make these on a calendar. You can use a
little teardrop or anything else that will remind you of what
you were feeling that day.
If you do this for a few months, that alone may be a good
indicator of when your period is coming. Some women think of
hunger as one of the period symptoms that they can rely on.
There may be a day that they feel as if they cannot get enough
to eat, and they then know their period is coming within a
certain amount of days.
Some of the period symptoms that are very common to all
would be things like cramping and a lower backache. You can
make these on the calendar as well, and the see what happens
from month to month. Some don’t have these, and that can make
things harder.
Putting these things all together throughout the period of a
few months can put together a pretty clear picture of the
period symptoms
that you can rely on each cycle to let you know when you should
be carrying some protection around with you. After a few years,
you will be able to tell without even thinking about it.
