Massage Therapist
A lot of the time, people who decide to make a career as a
massage therapist
start by going through massage therapy themselves. My first
exposure to massage was through my dad's massage chair. He had
an executive massager that he was very protective of. My dad
loved all kinds of gadgets and gizmos, but this was one of his
best ones. Whenever he was off at work, I would sit down as
soon as I knew the coast was clear. I was in heaven. It was
unreal how good it felt.
I can't say that my parents were happy with me when they
heard that had I decided to become a massage therapist. By that
point, however, I really knew I was talking about. You see, I
had gone to massage therapy several times myself, and I knew
that I wanted to provide that kind of relaxation to people.
I also knew that there were a lot of jobs available for
massage
therapists. There was, of course, medical
massage and deep tissue massage, but you could also become
involved in sports massage or one of any other numbers of
specializations. It was a really exciting career field, and one
that I was anxious to get involved in.
I have two say that it was difficult to choose the right
school of massage therapy. There are literally hundreds of
massage therapists who are licensed every year, but not all of
them come out of respectable schools. Some of the schools are
not even licensed by the state, so if you get a degree degree
from them, it won't really do you any good. Fortunately, I did
my research. If I hadn't, I might have wasted a lot of tuition
and time.
It was definitely a lot of work to get started as a massage
therapist. It looks like an easy and relaxing career, but it is
mostly relaxing for the person getting a massage! As a massage
therapist, you definitely have your work cut out for you.
There is always something to do. Massage therapists do not
just do massages – they have to network, go through new
training programs, and undertake a variety of other work and
professional development. There is a lot of competition out
there, but if you give it your all you will make it. There is
nothing better than knowing that you succeeded, especially If
you are working to fulfill your passion. Being a
massage
therapist is definitely something that
I'm passionate about.
