Effects of Stress on the
Body
Have you ever thought about the effects of stress on the
body? These can be almost as bad as some of the things you
refuse to put into your body. If you are at all worried about
your health, you may be eating the best that you can, and
trying to get the recommended amounts of exercise to stay
fit.
You may also take some vitamins, and you may avoid things
like alcohol or tobacco. These are all great things that you
can do for your body and your spirit, but there are other
things that can really take a toll on your health no matter
what you do otherwise.
The effects of stress on the body can be many, and they can
be very serious. If you add a lack of sleep to that (often
brought on by that very stress), you could be looking at a good
way to get sick, and you may find that you get sick more often
and much more easily.
When you are dealing with stress on top of a lack of sleep,
your immune system is going to have a hard time keeping up with
you, and that means you may catch every virus or illness that
comes your way. You may not think this is due to the effects of
stress on the body, but that is your most likely cause.
Stress can also make you feel edgy all of the time, and that
can mean you feel keyed up and restless when you need to relax.
The effects of stress on the body from mental sources often
ends up coming out in a physical way.
It can put undo stress on your heart and other systems of
your body, making it work harder than it needs to work for the
simplest of things. You may also find that you develop some bad
habits as a result of that stress that can further harm your
body. If you think lying awake at night worrying about work all
of the time is only harming you mentally, you should think
twice about that.
There are some things you can do to reduce the effects of
stress on the body. For one, you can up your exercise program.
Exercise is a great way to reduce the stress and also helps you
feel better. You can also see what you can do to get rid of
some of the sources of your stress. That might mean delegating
more work to others.
You may not feel as in control of everything, but your
health depends on you thinking about yourself once in a while.
You may also want to try something like yoga to lessen the
effects of stress on the body. Yoga and the related breathing
exercise can help melt stress away if you do it just a few
times a week.
